Do you think nurses are receiving enough dementia training?
The Alzheimer's Society has suggested that dementia can worsen when a dementia patient is admitted to hospital. They suggest that dementia patients are kept in hospital longer than patients with the same illness or injury.
1,300 nurses throughout the UK were questioned by The Alzheimer's Society, most of the nurses (89%) said they found working with people with dementia challenging and 80% said they wanted more access to specialist advice. (BBC, 17/11/09)
