Introduction
We're committed to improving access for everyone so that you and your Tradespace visitors can have the best possible experience.
This page describes the key accessibility features that will help you to use BTTradespace.com.
Accessibility and the web standards we use
BT Tradespace is being developed to be as accessible and usable as possible.
We continuously assess our accessibility and work with external specialists to ensure that we maintain BTTradespace.com to a high standard.
"Skip to content" and "highlight" links
Each page of the site includes links that enable you to jump directly to the main content of that page or to the 'highlights' in the far right column. You will find these links if you are a screen reader user or view the site without any styling.
Text size, colour contrast and style
You can customize your browser settings to make changes to the site appearance to suit your needs. This may include text sizes, text colour and background colour.
BTTradespace.com is designed and built to accommodate these settings while still displaying its content effectively.
Usually these settings can be found in the "View options" or "Preferences" menus of your web browser and there may be keyboard shortcuts assigned to them. We advise you to check your browsers "Help" section for information on how to make these changes or make use of the accessibility features of their computer's operating system.
If you are a Tradespace member you can customize your Tradespace with a choice of colours to match your identity and brand. Every effort has been made to make sure that your visitors can view your Tradespace without any problems.
Alt and Title tags
Wherever possible, use 'alt' attributes applied to images within the code help users with visual impairments to see a description behind an image which will be read by a screenreader. 'Title' tags are also used appropriately, for decorative icons that are links, to refer to links out to external web sites or for important top level generic landing pages within the portal.
Access keys
A definition for Access keys:
- 'accesskey' assigns a character (virtually any imaginable character, not just plain ASCII) to any of several HTML elements, including links, buttons, and text fields.
The main benefit of using access keys enables users with visual or mobility impairments to go straight to a piece of content using a keyboard shortcut. We have been careful to ensure that we have not defined accesskeys that are likely to conflict with a system or software shortcut.
For the time being we have implemented Accesskeys on the Tradespace seller sites only.
